Data Analyst - Auckland or Wellington

As part of a growing business we now have a new opportunity within the Data Services area for a Data Analyst reporting to the Head of Data Services.

The Position – Data Analyst

  • Data development (Postgres, Microsoft SQL Server) – You will be tested on your SQL knowledge

  • DBA Tasks for Postgres and MSSQL (User creation, Capacity planning, maintenance, etc.)

  • Managing the Reporting Database including maintaining and running regular monthly reports for the team

  • Automation and Processing – Ensuring current and future data sources are loaded and processed

  • Disaster Recovery – Ensure backups are in place, tested and secure

  • Ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders, from business users to technical staff

  • Troubleshooting and problem solving, become the SQL Champion within our team and to wider business

  • Assisting with automation, deployment and monitoring activities

  • Development and running of regular reporting and data extracts

You will be part of a collaborative forward-thinking team where the emphasis is on customer satisfaction through producing high quality work. 


  • Data analysis and load tasks,

  • Learn existing systems functionality and topography.

  • Improving or suggesting improvements to existing or new systems

  • Data Quality and process automation

  • Managed Services and Ad Hoc Data tasks

  • Data support and issue resolution

  • Analysis of business requirements and estimation of development efforts

  • Excellent organization and time management skills; must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and take initiative to solve problems and complete tasks as they arise

Minimum requirements:

  • Tertiary degree, preferably Computer Science, or similar, or ability to demonstrate equivalent experience and knowledge in the field

  • Experience: 3 + years

  • Essential: MS SQL Stack, Postgres, T-SQL, Powershell, GIT

  • Desirable: DBA/Sysadmin skills, Excel

  • Favourable: PostGIS, Azure technology stack, Python, R, Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, Perl, Power BI
